"Can I Have a Name for the Order?"

That is the phrase we at ChickfilA ask our customers. This helps us so that when we have one hundred customers waiting for food, we can just call out their name and they can come get it...it is much easier this way. Well, today I found out that a nine hour shift may be a bit too long for me.

Every once in a while, you get a smarty pants who tries to be funny. Key word - TRIES. Today, I helped one of these people. I asked the guy if I could have his name for the order. Instead, he said, "What about my number instead of my name?" Ha ha, well isn't that funny. So, in return I said "Or, you can just give me your name." Well, he wasn't amused that I wasn't playing along so he just gave me his name and left my register.

Here is the embarrassing part. I was moving so fast in my orders and really wasn't paying attention to anything I was saying...I say the same thing thousands of times per day at that place, that my words just spill out of my mouth without thinking. So, when it was time to ask the next guy his name for the order I messed up; instead, I asked "Can I have your number?"

Yeah, I'll leave it up to you to figure out how that one played out...
