Now, before you all freak out, read the whole post...and humor me :)
Today in logic class we talked about language and meaning. We specifically talked about satire using the piece "I Want a Wife". It's a poem written by a woman who discusses the husband/wife role. There are certain parts of it that I could do without, but most of it I found humorous. Then, of course, we discussed it in class.
Ask 50% (or most likely more) of college girls today where they see themselves in 5 years. Almost all of them will say "married" or "have a husband".
Before I continue, I am in no way stating that I want to just turn into a man or that I find the husband role significantly easier than the wife's...but that's digging deeper into the issue. This post is staying on the surface.
In the future, I do not look forward to: cooking, cleaning, staying home just to maintain it, organizing everyone's schedules, matching my husband's clothes for him, laying awake at night because my husband is snoring
Instead, I much rather: eat, watch TV, work at a job, not have to remember my schedule because somebody else already knows it, have my clothes all ready for me to just put on, and be able to fall asleep fast and stay that way all through the night.
I know the above is just the petty stereotypes that we give to wives and husbands, and I am not complaining...being a wife I am sure is a wonderful thing and husbands really do work hard. But, after talking and joking about it during class today, wouldn't it be fun if we could choose?? :)
