There IS Light at the End of the Tunnel!

There are days when I just want to give up. My alarm goes off at 7:20 and I am supposed to be sitting in class, fully aware and learning at 8 am. Most days, I can muster up the enthusiasm to do just that. But yesterday was a different story. Sometimes, class is just hard! You think you are on top of everything and yet something happens and you are back to the place where you have no clue what is going on.
Sometimes when I have school work coming out of my ears and hard class projects I tend to forget about the big picture. Instead, I just laugh at myself and ask if I truly know what I'm getting myself into.

Today, I decided to answer that question by, yes, I know 100% what I am doing.

What I am studying for will help change kids lives...forever. Whether I like it now or not it doesn't matter. And to help keep me going, I even have living proof!
In the picture above, all you may see is a little autistic boy with down syndrome. Well, his name is Ben, and there is a lot more behind that picture. Why is one of his socks off? To help his fear of texture; he has to take his sock off every therapy session. Yes, he HAS to; he hates it! He gets to put his foot in paint and get a foot massage from a toy racecar, but he hates it. Also, it is AMAZING that he is not being held by his mother; he used to SCREAM when anyone else even looked at him. Well, that is because he has separation anxiety. Right now anyways; soon hopefully, he will be like all other boys and love to play with toy race cars, roll around in the dirt, and go to school without mommy by his side.

This little boy, Roberto, is quite a character :) He is one of the most joyful little persons I have ever met. He has a sensory disorder which prevents him from feeling pain. You may think he has the best deal yet! However, because he cannot feel pain he thinks he is invincible; he can walk around for a week with a broken foot before someone finds out. He can touch a hot stove and not feel a burning sensation. He is never hungry so has to be fed by a feeding tube.

What do these two boys have in common? They love life. And two years from now I can be one of the people that makes their lives enjoyable.
Need I ask for anymore motivation?

I think not.
